Greg Anderson

Greg has served as pastor of Belmont Baptist Church since October 2005. Prior to coming to Charlottesville he served as pastor of First Baptist Church in Spring Hope, NC and as Associate Pastor of Lyndale Baptist Church in Richmond, VA.

He is a native of Boone, NC and is a graduate of Appalachian State University and the Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond.Greg and his wife Melanie, are the parents of two daughters, Abigail and Amelia. He enjoys time with family and friends, watching sports as well as trying to play sports, especially golf.

Bob Wheeler

Bob is our interim Minister of Music. During his 50 years of ministry he served churches in Illinois, Indiana, Texas, and Virginia. Prior to retirement he served for eighteen years as Associate Pastor/Minister of Music at Broadus Memorial Baptist in Charlottesville.

Bob is a graduate of Southern Illinois University and Southern Baptist Seminary, with doctoral work in choral music at the University of Texas. He and his wife, Edie, have one son and three lovely granddaughters.

Gloria Johnson

Gloria has served Belmont as organist since 1972. She earned a bachelor’s degree at what is now James Madison University. For the last 10 years she has been studying under Barbara Taylor Moore, organist at Universtiy Baptist Church of Charlottesville and teacher of organ and piano.

For the past 15 years Gloria has been a member of the Charlottesville chapter of the American Guild of Organists. Gloria is married to Greg and they have a daughter, Anita McEntire who is married to Belmont’s former Associate Pastor, David.

Janet Shiflett

Janet became church secretary in August 2000. A graduate of the University of Virginia with a Master of Education, she taught French for 31 years. Janet is married to Robert, and they have one daughter, Katherine.

Janet is a long time member of Belmont, she continues to use her teaching skills in the Naomi-Ruth Class and Adult Bible Study. She also leads a Spanish conversation group for the community.

Mary Hawkins

Mary is a lifetime resident of Charlottesville and the Belmont area. She joined the staff in November of 1999 as financial secretary.

Mary loves to bake desserts and cook. She also enjoys traveling as time allows.
