Serendipity 2013
We are very excited to tell you about Music Camp this year!
The dates for this year’s camp are July 22-26. Our musical this year is
The Prodigal Clown.
As in previous years, the camp will run on two separate tracks for younger and older campers, but all will participate in the performance of the musical, Friday evening, July 26.
TRACK ONE is for preschool children (age 3 and potty trained) through Grade 2 in the Fall of 2013. They will meet from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon, and learn about Jesus’ Parables though various projects and activities. On Thursday children should plan to stay for lunch (we will provide) until 3:00 and participate in the dress rehearsal.
TRACK 2 is for students entering grades 3-8 in the Fall. In addition to a morning and an afternoon rehearsal, campers will select two classes, one in the morning and one after lunch that they will participate in all week. Some of the class choices will include: Drama, Projects with Gourds, Art, Photography, Circus Skills, and Crafts. Track two campers begin at 9:00 each morning and end the day at 3:00. Campers should bring a pack lunch each day except Thursday (we will provide).
Drinks and snacks will be provided.
Something new this year!
On Saturday, June 1, we will have a Music Camp Preview Party! (See attached flyer) Our musical this year takes place in a Circus so we are going to have a Circus Party to kick off the summer. This will be a great time of fun as well as the perfect time to register for camp, pick up your learning CD, and audition for speaking and singing roles. This year’s Musical has a lot of drama and opportunities for acting so we would like to have some roles assigned before Camp begins.
Camp cost this year is $40 per camper and $60 per immediate family. However, if you come on the Preview day and register, the cost is $30 per camper and $50 per immediate family! And the party is free!
Also New this Year!
We are sending this information to you in an email as well. If you did not receive an email and would like to, email Melanie Anderson – gma2anderson@gmail.com and we will get one to you. Or if you only got the email and would like paper mail just let Melanie know. An extra benefit of the email is that you can forward it to friends you would like to invite! We encourage you to do this and will give a $5 rebate for each camper/family you recruit.
We are including a registration form, you can bring it with you to the party (plus we’ll have extras there). You can also drop off registration forms and checks (made out to Belmont Baptist Church designated to Serendipity 2013) at the church office or mail it to Belmont Baptist Church,
830 Monticello Ave, 22902.
Scholarships for campers are always available.
We look forward to seeing you on June 1st at the Circus Party!

Ongoing Events
Adult Bible Study
Every Tuesday at 9:30-10:30 AM in the Fellowship Hall
This is a time of study and sharing open to all adults. The group study is led by one of our members, Janet Shiflett. Studies vary from those on specific books of the Bible to discussions of current religious books dealing with spiritual issues. The group is currently studying the Book of Exodus.
Crossroads
Every Wednesday at 6:30-7:30 PM in the Fellowship Hall
Crossroads is a great time of fellowship and Bible study. We learn about each other, the Bible and how to serve and share Christ together. This study is led by our Pastor, Greg Anderson. The group is currently studying the book Seventeen Roadblocks on the Highway of Life: and How to Move Around Them by Brian L. Harbour.
Sanctuary Choir Rehearsal
Every Wednesday at 7:30 PM in the Fellowship Hall
If you love to sing, Bob (our Minister of Music) would love to have you join our choir ! You do not need to be able to read music in order to participate. If you can sing Happy Birthday and folks don’t leave the room, you’re in! Bob would love to have you join us, even if it’s just for a short period of time. This is a great opportunity for using the musical talent God has given you.
Rebroadcast of Worship Service
Every Sunday at 10:00 PM our Sunday morning worship from the previous week is broadcast on Charlottesville Public Access TV—Comcast Channel 13
Morningside Service
On the fourth Sunday of every month at 3:00 PM our pastor, assisted by various church members, provides a worship service at Morningside Assisted Living.
Eat Pizza and Help Feed Others
Eat lunch at Cici’s Pizza on the fourth Sunday of any month and you can help support our mission child, Yeraldin, in Peru through Compassion International. After you pay for the buffet, drop your sales slip in the jar next to the register and Cici’s will return a percentage of the amount you paid to Belmont Baptist for this mission project.
Likewise, if you purchase a pizza at Sal’s Pizza in Crozet between 12:00 noon and 8:00 p.m. on any Wednesday, you can turn in your receipt and Sal’s will refund a percentage of your purchase price to Belmont Baptist. This money is used to help fund our ongoing Food Closet Ministry to assist needy families in the Belmont neighborhood.
Ongoing Ministries
Loads of Love Laundry
Loads of Love is growing and continues to be a very successful ministry! We have been able to help a great number of families with free laundry facilities and save them considerable money to use for other expenses. We are always looking for volunteers! If you have not volunteered for a shift at Loads of Love, please consider this very important mission opportunity! If you would like to be a part of this ministry, please contact the Church Office (434-296-7111) or see Barbara Lowery.
You may also contribute to this ministry with donations of snacks, laundry detergent and fabric softener. Loads of Love is a wonderful ministry and has been a very rewarding experience for all those involved. Please consider being a part of this ministry in any way you are able to contribute.
Be sure to check out our Celebrations page for more information on Loads of Love as well as a few pictures recently posted to the website.
Food Closet
The food closet collection is an ongoing need. This is a very important ministry, especially in these tough economic times. We have been able to serve many needy families, but can always use more help. Please consider making a food or monetary donation. The food closet can use crackers, cereal (oatmeal or grits), canned meats (beef stew, tuna, salmon, Treet, Spam, Jack Mackerel), canned vegetables, dried beans, canned beans (kidney, black , pinto, etc.) macaroni & cheese, canned fruit, instant milk, soup, peanut butter, jelly, pork & beans, rice, individual coffee servings and spaghetti sauce and pasta.
Mission Possible
Belmont has made a commitment to pray for Clark Elementary School teachers and staff members. This mission will be ongoing throughout the school year. Please contact the office (434-296-7111) if you are interested in participating and we will assign you a name.
